Petals is the UK’s first FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) web app. The app is now live and available for download.
As you will know, the summer holiday is a time when many girls and young women are at risk of being subjected to FGM. I would therefore ask you to raise awareness of this app over the coming days and weeks so that we can try to protect as many vulnerable girls as possible.
Speaking at the launch on Tuesday, Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan MP, said that the app “offers a lifeline for women and girls” and I’m delighted that the app has also been supported by the NSPCC.
